Do you dream of a bike ride where beautiful forests, charming villages, coastal landscapes, and local culinary delights go hand in hand? Then “Forest, Coast, and Wine” is the perfect route for you. This 41-kilometer bike route takes you through northern Lolland and offers a varied experience featuring forests, the coast, and culture along the way.
At Larsson Cykler, you can rent a bike that’s perfect for your needs and pick it up at our store in Maribo or have it delivered directly to your vacation address. “Forests, Coast, and Wine” is an ideal route for couples, friends, nature lovers, and those who enjoy life—anyone who wants to explore Lolland at a leisurely pace with time for pleasant stops along the way.
The “Forest, Coast, and Wine” route begins and ends at Maribo Station, located near the Larsson Cykler bike shop in Maribo. From Maribo, the route heads north through the Lolland countryside toward Bandholm and continues along Lolland’s northern coast.
On the way to Bandholm, you’ll pass through the area around Knuthenborg Safari Park, while the landscape gradually changes. Along the way, the route takes you through two beautiful forests and several small, idyllic villages, giving the trip a cozy, rural atmosphere.
When you reach Bandholm, you’ll find Lolland’s north coast and the view of the Småland Strait. Here you’ll also find a beach and a public swimming area, so on hot summer days you can combine your bike ride with a refreshing dip in the water.
This route is therefore ideal for those who don’t just want to cycle from A to B, but want to make the ride itself and the many different surroundings part of the experience.
About halfway through the “Forests, Coast, and Wine” route, you’ll reach Blans Harbor. This small harbor is beautifully situated on the north coast of Lolland and is a perfect place to take a break. Consider bringing a packed lunch and enjoying it while overlooking the Småland Strait before continuing on your journey.
On the way back toward Maribo, you’ll pass through Stokkemarke. Here you’ll find, among other things, a shelter area, an art gallery, and a fitness and playground area, offering opportunities for several different stops.
It’s also around Stokkemarke that the wine experience becomes part of the route. Here you’ll find a local winery that produces wine from its own grapevines, among other things. You can stop by, visit the farm shop, and learn more about local wine production.
The combination of the forests, the coast, and the winery is precisely what gave “Forest, Coast, and Wine” its name and makes the route a unique cycling experience on Lolland.
